Urivi Vikram National Centre for Adolescents (UVNAC), under the aegis of the Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT), organised a workshop on “Appropriate Nutrition for Healthy Adolescence” on 29th August 2026 at UVNAC, Sector-22, Dwarka. The workshop was conducted under SASHAKT -Empower Students, Schools and Relevant Stakeholders, a CSR-supported project.
The session was facilitated by Prof. (Dr.) Santosh Jain Passi, Public Health Nutrition Consultant and Former Director, Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi and Dr. Vandana Sabharwal, Assistant Professor, Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi and Co-Convenor, Nutrition Society of India- Delhi. The workshop highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition during adolescence, focusing on everyday food choices and healthy lifestyle practices. Participants discussed food groups, dietary fibre, antioxidants, phytochemicals, omega-3 fatty acids and millets, along with adequate hydration and physical activity.
Dr. UNB Rao, Chairman said, "The session emphasised limiting processed, fried, fast and junk foods, while monitoring refined sugar, salt and sugar-sweetened beverages.The workshop reinforced the importance of early nutrition education and encouraged adolescents to make informed food choices and develop healthy habits for everyday life."
